About The Project
TC Architects and Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority just completed a comprehensive renovation of Southwick Place which is a ten building, fifty-unit apartment complex. This project was funded through an Ohio Housing Financing Agency Low Income Tax Credit.
The renovation included site, exterior and interior updates. A few key items for the site are: new concrete walks, patios, porches and stairs at both front and rear entrances of each of the units. The asphalt paving throughout was replaced and the catch basins, storm sewers and lines were cleaned, repaired or replaced as needed as well as any of the retaining walls. The site lighting was replaced with new LED light fixtures.
Some of the building exterior updates included new doors and windows, new screen doors, new garage doors, power assist doors at the 2 accessible units, damaged brick and vinyl siding were repaired or replaced, new asphalt shingle roofs were installed along with new gutters and downspouts.
One of the two-bedroom units were converted into a sensory unit and the 2 accessible units were upgraded. Throughout each of the units some of the interior upgrades included: new vinyl flooring, new interior doors and hardware, new casework, sinks, and accessories for both kitchen and bath. Appliances will be replaced with Energy Star rated appliances.
