About The Project
The Plymouth Veterinary Clinic was operating at full capacity within its 7,854 SF facility. Rapid practice growth resulted in limited clinical space, workflow inefficiencies, and constrained service expansion. Portions of the building, including the grooming area and waiting room, were under-utilized.
TC Architects partnered with Dr. Souder and her team to strategically reallocate existing square footage and incorporate a targeted 124 SF addition. The result is a high-performance, clinical environment designed to increase capacity, improve workflow, and elevate patient comfort, all without large-scale expansion.
Through thoughtful space planning and operational analysis, the project delivered: two (2) Additional Exam Rooms; one (1) Tech / Rehabilitation Room; one (1) Consultation / Comfort Room. This reconfiguration increased the number of patient-facing clinical rooms by 44%, significantly expanding provider capacity and revenue potential.
Additional enhancements included: a separate two-table Dental Suite; an additional Doctor’s Office; an additional Staff Toilet Room; and patient-centered kennel redesign.
The original kennel area featured an open layout with face-to-face kennel placement, a configuration that contributed to elevated patient stress levels. TC Architects reimagined the space to improve animal well-being and operational efficiency by creating (6) six compartmentalized zones & eliminating direct kennel-to-kennel visibility.
The redesigned boarding and treatment areas now include: a 6-cage Cat Ward;
8-cage Flexible Ward; 14-cage Small Dog Ward; two (2) separate Kennel Rooms with 6-runs per room; 4-cage Isolation Ward; and a dedicated Janitor Closet. This new layout reduces patient anxiety, enhances comfort, improved operational efficiency, staff workflow and infection control.
