Battered Women’s Shelter

About The Project

TC Architects worked with the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties to convert a former nursing home into one, central location for their organization. Funding was provided by several sources including the Ohio Housing Finance Agency in the form of Tax Credits.

The 56,000 square foot renovation was broken down into two phases. Phase I, which opened in 2014, consolidated  the administrative staff. Phase 2, which recently completed construction,  transformed the former nursing home patient rooms into 45 individual and family suites. The new design also included:  new kitchen & dining areas, a community room, activity area, conference rooms, individual storage units, a clothing bank, job training area, library, student study area, shower and laundry areas.

A new roof, elevator upgrades, major electrical / mechanical system upgrade and asbestos abatement were all a part of this major transformation, making for a safe, inviting environment for the residents.
