TC Architects recently completed a 54-unit affordable senior housing facility that was developed utilizing Low-Income Housing Tax Credits administered by OHFA.
The housing facility is located on Pearl Road, which is the main north / south corridor running through Brunswick, Ohio, a rapidly developing city about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland. The building was strategically designed to front on Pearl Road to support the City’s desire for an appropriately scaled streetscape and walkable downtown. This building serves as the defining southern terminus to the downtown area with its clock tower serving as an informative and identifiable landmark.
The four-story building contains (31) one-bedroom and (23) two-bedroom apartments designed for independent living. Ten percent of these units were designed for people with mobility impairments.
To enhance the lifestyle and social interaction of the residents, the building contains a large community room, library, crafts center, computer room, individual resident storage units, and a health & wellness center.
Each unit is equipped with a full kitchen. and has a balcony or patio for seasonal outdoor enjoyment All units are visitable and feature universal design features to assure that residents will be able to age in place.
The building was also designed using green products and principles. Energy efficiency and sustainability have been assured by using ENERGY STAR®-rated equipment and products to the highest degree possible.
